Mila's First Ponytail

Our baby finally has enough hair to pull back into a ponytail. Nevermind the small, very insignificant detail that we had to wet it down with water to knock the curls out. Babies have such perfect hair and I'm unbelievably jealous....

The Last Mow of the Season

As cool weather slowly starts creeping into the area and the fall leaves drop from their trees, we're beginning to put our summer toys away: swimming pools, lawn mowers, deck furniture. and slip and slides. With the changing of the seasons, Mila wanted to mow the yard for the last time.

Three Posts At Once

"Little Miss Speed Racer"

I finally bought Mila a toddler seat so she could accompany me on bike rides. After going down a hill and hearing a "WEEEEEE!" from behind me, I knew this was going to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Give me some skin, Mila!

"Mimi Driver, Not Minnie Driver"

Everytime the car door opens, Mila's the first inside to make sure everything is in tip-top condition. She's our at-home mechanic.

"Going Green"

We've been teaching Mila to make sure she crushes the cans before putting them in the recycling bin. She's such a fast learner!

The Toilet Paper Queen

You know that age that all babies hit when their fascination with toilet paper gets the best of them? Mila is definitely there! Yesterday, after sitting on the big girl potty for a little longer than she was accustomed to, Mila decided there was too much paper on the roll and that it needed a little thinning out. Gotta love kids. We decided to make the best of it and made her a neck tie out of some of the excess. Mila was thrilled to model her new article of almost-clothing.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

I guess they were both really tired...

so tired that Ana didn't even notice Mila propping her feet up on her.
PRICELESS!

Labor Day 2009

For Labor Day this year we all went back to Crossett, AR to see family. Despite the 95 degree weather, Mila was in high spirits all weekend. We all sat around the TV watching old Michael Jackson videos and Mila wasn't shy when we asked her to get up and dance for us.
She's at the stage now where she mimicks EVERYTHING we do; eating, laughing, walking, you name it. Sunday after church we were sitting around and relaxing and I looked up and saw this picture and had to snap it. She's learning to be a little lady at a young age. Brava Bellisima!

"Argh Mateys!"

For some reason, tying a rag around Mila's head turned her into a pirate. She wouldn't stop growling at us! I thought it was the cutest thing in the world so of course, I have to share it with everyone else. ENJOY!

Just incase the pictures didn't quite capture Mila's change in identity, check this out:

Typing Lessons Anyone?

Isn't it amazing how quickly children learn? After having the new laptop for 2 weeks, Mila's figured out how to type full-page letters and e-mails to others. Now, if we could only teach her how to read and spell those letter would make a lot more sense :).

Missionary Gaston

Mila's Mom is in Florida for a few days so today we dressed Mila in her Sunday's best. Her aunt said she looked like a little missionary. Mama says she looks like an 1800s girl (whatever that meas.) I think she looks like a princess, which is exactly what she is.

Hello 1980's...Again?!

I think it's hilarious how fashion, among other things, has a tendency to visit us in cycles. Take for instance this outfit: she's cute, no doubt, but the bow is the same type I wore in Kindergarten, the blue jean skirt is identical to one I had in the 4th grade and loved VERY much, the leggings, let's not even go there, and the jellies shoes are priceless! The only thing missing is a blue jean jacket with glued-on jewels that spell her name that has other pictures drawn on with magic markers by your's truly. So take a good look ladies and gentlemen. One day, Mila's daughters will be looking at this picture thinking "Hey, my Mom had an outfit just like me when she was born a million years ago." Ah, life's funny :)

Peekaboo Cover Contest

Hello Friends & Family!

As some of you may know, the Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) has partnered up with Peekaboo Magazine to raise awareness and money for cancer research in Arkansas. That being said, for every dollar raised through Mila's website, she will have a vote cast towards winning a chance to be on the front cover of Peekaboo's July issue! Not only does this get Mila on the cover, But it really does go to support a wonderful cause.

You can visit Mila's website at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/mila and donate today. Even though money may be a little tight, every cent counts, so even if it's a dollar, God can take that faith seed and multiply it a thousand fold for his will.

Thanks again for your support,
Mila Jade (& her proud Aunt Tina)

Got Teeth?

Mila now has 6 teeth, 2 on the top, and 4 on the bottom. Just when you thought it was safe to stick your finger in there and fish out the latest treat she's found on the floor and put in her mouth, CHOMP!

I Got the Beat

Today we went to a friend's Surprise 60th Birthday Party. The theme was "The 60's." Quite appropriate. Mila stole the show. And though Mike was the birthday boy, he had no problem sharing the spotlight with Mila. Go MiMi!

Anybody Up for a Walk?

On Saturday, we decided to take Mila and try out the new bike trails in Fayetteville. The trails are about 13 miles long and range from flat topography, to gently sloping, and up/downhill. Let's just say Mila definitely had the advantage being pushed in the stroller. Between laughing at the dogs, staring at the sky, napping, and pointing at all of the neat things we saw on our walk, Mila really enjoyed herself. This is her before the trip trying to get herself situated in her stroller.

Barbeque Anyone?

Last Saturday, we all went to Famous Dave's Barbeque Shack in Rogers for my birthday dinner, and Mila totally stole the show. Between flirting with our waiter, eating barbeque chicken, and dancing to the music played overhead, she left with a few hearts in her back pocket that night. Now that Mila's stepped foot in Famous Dave's, it's officially been pimped. :)

The Love Birds (Mila's Nana and Papi)

Her binky clip looks like a yellow Daffodil.

I think she had some chicken in her hands, but I was too busy looking at how she got her foot behind her in that booster seat.

Dance Dance Revolution!

How is it that all babies dance alike? Isn't it amazing that no matter what race, heigh, weight, or other physical feature your baby is, they all make the same movements when dancing? God truly does have a sense of humor. Here's our little MiMi dancing.

Oh and yes, that's Dora the Explorer playing in the background. Gotta give it up to the Latin persuasion! :)

Sass-a-Frass!

Apparently, Miss Jade has captured her Aunt's Sass. Whodathunk! Just yesterday, I was holding Mila while she gobbled down a bottle. She stopped, looked deeply into my eyes, and BOP! She bopped me right on my forehead like I should've had a V8! I tell you, kids are great copycats!

Give me a kiss...on that Elvis lip!

I just did something very involuntary...and stinky :)
